The Security Council Secretariat adopts the amended Sudan letter regarding the UN mission
The UN Security Council Secretariat has officially adopted the amended Sudan letter after withdrawing the first letter related to the request of the political mission sent by Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdock to the Security Council on January 28, 2020, which is defined by the document No. S2020 / 77 and replaced by a letter dated February 27, 2020 addressed to the Secretary UN General of the Transitional Prime Minister.
Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk sent a letter to the UN Security Council on January 27, 2020 where he requested in his speech to the UN Security Council to send a special political mission that includes a strong peacebuilding component under Chapter VI of the United Nations Charter.
Then Sudan sent another amended letter on February 27, 2020 after the ruling partners and a number of parties objected to the first letter and considered it a gateway to violating sovereignty and military intervention.
The second letter, which was sent to the Security Council only a month after the date of its first speech, contained a request for United Nations support in peace negotiations between parties to armed conflicts, assistance in mobilizing economic and development assistance, and coordinating and facilitating humanitarian assistance, in addition to assistance and capacity-building in all matters related to the success of the transition Political and democratic in Sudan..
